For many, the death of Pale Male is traumatic. For those of us who monitor other Manhattan hawk nests, it may be a question of how did PM survive NYC conditions (esp., rat poison) for 30 years? Just wow. Such a bird.
I used to often spot PM lurking in a tree along the east side of the Central Park loop near the Met as I was skating uptown, and Lincoln K. was probably nearby with camera. Sigh, no longer.
