5/31, St. John the Divine

DSC_2846

After a couple days of nasty rain storms, I was happy on Friday evening to find all of the red-tailed hawk family at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine visible and accounted for.

I arrived at the tail end of a feeding, with one child toddling round while mom fed the last morsels to its sibling.

The kids are getting big enough that when you're looking up at them, you might find one (in this case, Eldest) looking back.

Wing-stretching is now part of the day, although not the vigorous flapping stuff yet.

Although the feeding was over, mom remained in the nest, laying down next to youngest.

Eldest also showed off how strong her legs have gotten.

Mom did get up and look around a bit, but still didn't leave.

Dad finally put in an appearance, apparently bringing food. After he left, there was a brief feeding, apparently youngest getting a few extra bites.
