On Monday, the eldest baby red-tailed hawk hawk at the nest at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine was probably 44 days old, which means that first flight could happen any day.
A visit to the nest early Monday evening found both nestlings active, with lots of wing flaring and hop flapping around the nest.
Also some staring at stuff, whether or on the ground or in the sky.
Nice set of tail feathers. Yep, just about ready to fledge.
