4/20, On Gabriel's Horn

Beautiful day, no?

No red-tailed hawk sign when I arrived at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine just after 5:50, but ten minutes later when I was down by the Morningside Park pond, Tristan appeared on Gabriel's horn.

He was still there when I left at about 6:30.

In case you haven't checked it out yet, be sure to take a gander at the Audubon Briarwood Queens hawkcam. In the last day or so, the nestlings have gotten big enough that you can see their heads bobbing up and down during a feeding. If Mama pauses a moment during a feeding, you might even see a little fuzzy head try to grab at the carcass she's feeding them from. Feedings seem to be occurring every 90-120 minutes.

As for the Cathedral nest, I'm not expecting first hatch until mid next week at the earliest. Isolde probably did not lay her first egg until almost two weeks after Briarwood Mama did.
