Wednesday evening on 113th St., only one of the cathedral red-tailed hawk fledglings put in an appearance. That was just a brief look, as one made a short flight from one side of the ruined transept roof to the other, perched in view for a moment, and the stepped out of sight.
The fledge did make a couple begging calls, as one of the parents was perched up on the side of the cathedral keeping an eye on things.
Surprisingly it was the father. I say surprisingly, as he stuck around for over a half hour before taking off. It seems it's usually momma Isolde who put in the long babysitting stints, watching from on high.
